Homework help! Rephrasing?

On October 24, 1804 we got to the Mandan-Hidatsa villages. They were near the Upper Missouri River. The indians were very nice people so we decided to stay there for the winter. In the spring they would continue to go up the river to find new villages. In the villages we met Sacagawea. She was a very smart and powerful woman and could help us a lot. Right now we are getting ready to head west to the Pacific Ocean. We interviewed some indians who had already been there and they helped us draw maps that could help us on our journey.
