Which size flats should I get?

I just bought a pair of flats, they are suede so it's pretty soft and not hard like leather. I tried on size 8 and it falls off when I try walking so I tried size 7 and 1/2 and it feels rather tight (or maybe I am not used to it). Is it suppose to be tight at first? And will it become more loose later on? Thanks!
